Hydraulic conductivity of a dense prehydrated geosynthetic clay liner [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Dense prehydrated geosynthetic clay liners (DPH-GCLs) are a particular type of GCL which, unlike conventional GCLs manufactured with dry bentonite, contain bentonite prehydrated during manufacturing.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Corrosion resistance of mild steel immersed in simulated concrete pore solution in the presence of sodium potassium tartrate

open access: yesZaštita Materijala, 2023
The corrosion resistance of mild steel in simulated concrete pore solution (SCPS) in the absence and presence of sodium potassium tartrate (SPT) has been investigated by polarization technique and AC impedance spectra.

Corrosion of Zn-Ni coated reinforcing steel in simulated concrete pore solutions [PDF]

open access: yesVojnotehnicki glasnik
Introduction/purpose: The anticorrosion protection of steel reinforcement bars in concrete is a critical concern in civil engineering, particularly for the construction of concrete structures intended for military applications. Currently, the most important methods for achieving this protection include the application of coatings on steel rebar (such ...

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

Pore Solution Chemistry of Calcium Sulfoaluminate Cement and Its Effects on Steel Passivation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Calcium sulfoaluminate cement (CSA) is a type of low-CO2 binder which has been widely applied in the production of concrete. To investigate the protection capability offered by CSA to keep steel from corrosion, the pore solution chemistry of CSA on steel

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Research on the Macro-Cell Corrosion Behavior of Alloyed Corrosion-Resistant Steel for a Transmission Line Steel Structure under a Chloride Corrosion Environment

open access: yesMetals
“The article investigates the macro-cell corrosion behavior and corrosion resistance when the alloyed steel and the carbon steel are used together because the traditional carbon steel is difficult to meet the corrosion resistance and durability of the ...
