Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

DETERMINISTIC GROWTH MODEL OF SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE, PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION AND SIMULATION

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
Abstract A mathematical model of the growth of SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE H1022 was developed, which can describe oxidative and aerobic fermentative (Crabtree-effect)growth on glucose, oxidative growth on ethanol, oxygen limited growth on glucose and/or ethanol and the anaerobic growth.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Dynamic parameter identification of upper-limb rehabilitation robot system based on variable parameter particle swarm optimisation

open access: yesIET Cyber-systems and Robotics, 2020
To solve the problem of uncertain parameters in dynamic modelling of upper-limb rehabilitation robots, a dynamic parameter identification method based on variable parameters particle swarm optimisation (PSO) is developed.

Evolutionary Inverse Material Identification: Bespoke Characterization of Soft Materials Using a Metaheuristic Algorithm

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2022
The growing interest in soft robotics has resulted in an increased demand for accurate and reliable material modelling. As soft robots experience high deformations, highly nonlinear behavior is possible. Several analytical models that are able to capture

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Unconstrained evolutionary and gradient descent-based tuning of fuzzy-partitions for UAV dynamic modeling [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2017
In this paper, a novel fuzzy identification method for dynamic modelling of quadrotors UAV is presented. The method is based on a special parameterization of the antecedent part of fuzzy systems that results in fuzzy-partitions for antecedents.

Variable step strategy for online secondary path modelling in active vibration control systems

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2018
An online modelling method for secondary path of two distinct variable step-size strategies based on the filtered-x least square (FXLMS) algorithm is proposed.

Design of extended Kalman filtering neural network control system based on particle swarm identification of nonlinear U-model

open access: yesAutomatika, 2022
This paper studies the modelling of a class of nonlinear plants with known structures but unknown parameters and proposes a general nonlinear U-model expression. The particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to identify the time-varying parameters of

Weather Radar Ground Clutter, Part I: Identification, Modeling and Simulation

open access: yesJournal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 2009
Abstract Real-time ground-clutter identification and subsequent filtering of clutter-contaminated data is addressed in this two-part paper. Part I focuses on the identification, modeling, and simulation of S-band ground-clutter echo. A new clutter identification parameter, clutter phase alignment (CPA), is presented.
