Analysis of commercial general engineering finite element software in electrochemical simulations

open access: yesJournal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, 2010
Abstract Electrochemical simulation via the solution of Fick’s Laws is a widely used technique to corroborate experimental results with well defined theory. This paper analyses use of ‘off-the-shelf’ finite element (FEM) software COMSOL Multiphysics™ in one, two and three-dimensional quantitative problems and under homogeneous and heterogeneous ...

Process Modeling and Simulation of Levulinate Esters Production Using Commercial Software

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Abstract This paper presents the conceptual design and simulation of a biofuels (Levulinic esters) synthesizing process by esterification of Levulinic acid with lower alcohols using H2SO4 as catalyst. Levulinic esters are used as valuable fuels and fuel additives due to their high octane number, low water solubility, and high content of ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

From Material to Solution: Implementing Shape Memory Behavior of Thermoplastic Polymers in Commercial FEA Software for Structural Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
The production of one-piece composite hollow profiles with undercuts presents significant challenges to conventional mold concepts. Mandrels made of thermoplastic shape-memory polymers could facilitate demolding and reduce tooling costs.
