Scale‐robust fibre orientation analysis of hair using two‐dimensional Fourier transform

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
We present a simple and robust method to quantify hair fibre orientation using 2D‐DFT. It works with standard images and extracts directional features at multiple scales. This enables objective evaluation of cosmetic treatments and product effects. Abstract Objective To address the current lack of standardized tools for evaluating hair appearance in ...

Simulation numérique d'un bruleur à biogaz destiné aux moteurs Stirling

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables, 2022
The design of a biogas burner for Stirling engines depends on its ability to provide a sufficient heat which is not produced by conventional burners because of the limitation of the contact surface between flame-hot head and the low methane content in ...

Longer action potential duration in the Purkinje network than in the ventricular myocardium delays retrograde activation of the human His‐Purkinje system

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Activation time (AT) maps from right ventricular apical pacing in a human ventricles model with longer action potential duration in the His‐Purkinje system (HPS) than in the myocardium (MYO). For pacing with a long S1S2 coupling interval (CI), the AT from the myocardial pacing site to the first AT of the HPS (ATMYO) is longer ...

Traitement du sol par vibroflottation – Application aux ouvrages de protection du port de DjenDjen, Jijel, Algérie [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Soil treatment by vibroflotation is a recent technique for improving soil with poor geo-mechanical properties. In addition, this treatment minimizes the risk of liquefaction and the instability of the caisson.

Electromagnetic Quasinormal Modes: A Foundational Framework for Describing Fano Resonances of Extinction Spectra

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
An ab initio electromagnetic framework links quasinormal modes to Fano resonances in extinction spectra. Analytical expressions for the Fano asymmetry and intensity parameters are derived from overlap integrals, enabling rapid spectral reconstruction and physical interpretation.

Un outil de dimensionnement des filets pare-pierres : le logiciel ECRANS

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2010
Les instabilités rocheuses figurent parmi les aléas rencontrés fréquemment en zone de montagne. Afin de réduire le risque associé, la stratégie dite passive vise à mettre en place des techniques de protection qui permettent de contrôler la trajectoire ...

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)‐Based Evaluation of Tropical Cyclone Wind Profiles and a Theory‐Based Radius of Maximum Wind Estimation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract Accurate wind profiles and radius of maximum wind (Rmax ${R}_{\max }$) are critical for reconstructing realistic tropical cyclones (TCs) to predict extreme ocean conditions, including storm surges and waves. Leveraging the expanding Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) database, we conducted the first comprehensive evaluation of commonly used TC ...
