Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Longitudinal relationship between academic staffs’ evaluation score by students and their characteristics: Does the choice of correlation structure matter?

open access: yesJournal of Biostatistics and Epidemiology, 2016
Each semester, students are asked to evaluate the academic staff through an online questionnaire. Generalized estimating equations model (GEE), taking into account the correlation between scores, is the established tool to analyze longitudinal data.

Simulating the Cost of Cooperation: A Recipe for Collaborative Problem-Solving

open access: yesFuture Internet, 2018
Collective problem-solving and decision-making, along with other forms of collaboration online, are central phenomena within ICT. There had been several attempts to create a system able to go beyond the passive accumulation of data.

EMHMM Simulation Study

open access: yes, 2018
Eye Movement analysis with Hidden Markov Models (EMHMM) is a method for modeling eye fixation sequences using hidden Markov models (HMMs). In this report, we run a simulation study to investigate the estimation error for learning HMMs with variational Bayesian inference, with respect to the number of sequences and the sequence lengths.

Defense acquisition system simulation studies

open access: yesProceedings of the 2011 International Conference on Software and Systems Process, 2011
A systems engineering process model for the acquisition of large, complex systems for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is being adapted for ongoing experiments in acquisition process policies. The discrete-event simulation model of the larger "enterprise of acquisition" for weapon systems has a broad scope from program beginning through development.

Real‐World Performance of CSF Kappa Free Light Chains in the 2024 McDonald Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Kappa free light chains (KFLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have a similar performance to CSF‐restricted oligoclonal bands (OCB) for multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. To help with implementation, we set out to resolve several remaining uncertainties: (1) performance in a real‐world cohort and the 2024 McDonald criteria; (2 ...

Liquid-vapour asymmetry in pure fluids: A Monte Carlo simulation study

open access: yes, 1994
Monte Carlo simulations within the grand canonical ensemble are used to obtain the joint distribution of density and energy fluctuations $p_L(\rho,u)$ for two model fluids: a decorated lattice gas and a polymer system.

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms of Glioma Recurrence: A Study Integrating Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioma recurrence severely impacts patient prognosis, with current treatments showing limited efficacy. Traditional methods struggle to analyze recurrence mechanisms due to challenges in assessing tumor heterogeneity, spatial dynamics, and gene networks.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...
