MANET simulation studies

ACM SIGMOBILE Mobile Computing and Communications Review, 2005
Simulation is the research tool of choice for a majority of the mobile ad hoc network (MANET) community. However, while the use of simulation has increased, the credibility of the simulation results has decreased. To determine the state of MANET simulation studies, we surveyed the 2000-2005 proceedings of the ACM International Symposium on Mobile Ad ...

Simulator sickness during driving simulation studies

Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2010
While driving simulators are a valuable tool for assessing multiple dimensions of driving performance under relatively safe conditions, researchers and practitioners must be prepared for participants that suffer from simulator sickness. This paper describes multiple theories of motion sickness and presents a method for assessing and reacting to ...

Simulation Algorithms and Simulation Studies

2014
In this chapter, we present the basic ideas for the simulation of a stationary Gaussian process from which we deduce the simulation of a fBm and the simulation of processes driven by a fBm. Our approach is based on Durbin-Levinson’s algorithm. Since the process formed by the first order increments of a fBm is a stationary Gaussian one, we first ...

A Simulation Study of Multilocus Clines

Evolution, 1995
Fisher's method of junctions is used to investigate the degree of association between selected alleles in a cline, in the limit where there is divergence between very many genes. A computer model is used to simulate one of a pair of infinite demes that exchange individuals each generation.

Simulation Studies and the Alignment of Interests

Health Care Management Science, 2002
Chemotherapy patients are treated with cytostatic drugs. Cytostatic drugs can be produced if ordered or they can be produced to keep in stock. The time that cytostatic drugs can be kept in stock before being spoiled is limited. It is always possible that the patient cannot receive chemotherapy because he/she is not in the right condition.

Performance of Segnet — a simulation study

Computer Communications, 1987
Abstract This paper describes the performance evaluation of Segnet, a CSMA/CD-based protocol with dynamic network segmentation. Segnet is shown to be suitable for network environments where the traffic pattern is highly localized into groups of stations clustered together.

Simulation Study of TCP in Overload

Advanced Int'l Conference on Telecommunications and Int'l Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services (AICT-ICIW'06), 2006
We study through simulations the transient performance deterioration on an overloaded link and compare the results with the processor sharing model. We find many similarities. The performance depends essentially on the load and on the distribution of flow sizes.

A simulation study of a mobile manipulator

Proceedings 1999 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. Human and Environment Friendly Robots with High Intelligence and Emotional Quotients (Cat. No.99CH36289), 2003
This paper describes a step by step validation procedure of a mobile manipulator simulation. The procedure includes performing basic model simulations, a sensitivity analysis, and a stochastic output analysis. Static, quasi-static, and dynamic experiments performed on a real system and simulated using DADS/sup TM/ are also presented.

SIMULATION STUDY OF HIERARCHICAL REGRESSION

Statistics in Medicine, 1996
Hierarchical regression - which attempts to improve standard regression estimates by adding a second-stage 'prior' regression to an ordinary model - provides a practical approach to evaluating multiple exposures. We present here a simulation study of logistic regression in which we compare hierarchical regression fitted by a two-stage procedure to ...

On the performance of MixTVEM: a simulation study

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2019
AbstractThe mixture of time-varying effect model (MixTVEM) was proposed to handle both nonlinearity and heterogeneity in describing the complex patterns of change over time in the analysis of inten...
