Optical orientation of electron spins and valence band spectroscopy in germanium

open access: yes, 2015
We have investigated optical orientation in the vicinity of the direct gap of bulk germanium. The electron spin polarization is studied via polarization-resolved photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy unfolding the interplay between doping and ...

Simultaneous Determination of Scandium and Disprosium

open access: yesNippon kagaku zassi, 1961

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Optimization of Microwave-Assisted Extraction Conditions for Five Major Bioactive Compounds from Flos Sophorae Immaturus (Cultivars of Sophora japonica L.) Using Response Surface Methodology

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Microwave-assisted extraction was applied to extract rutin; quercetin; genistein; kaempferol; and isorhamnetin from Flos Sophorae Immaturus. Six independent variables; namely; solvent type; particle size; extraction frequency; liquid-to-solid ratio ...

A SIMULTANEOUS CARR-PRICE REACTION FOR THE DETERMINATION OF VITAMIN A

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1948
SUMMARY A method is described for determining vitamin A simultaneously in stand- ard and unknown, thus canceling errors due to different treatment of standard and sample. Readings of the Carr-Price color can be taken more at leisure, as the difference in fading rather than the fading of the color it- self is measured.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Imidazolium Ionic Liquid Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes for Improved Interfacial Charge Transfer and Simultaneous Determination of Dihydroxybenzene Isomers

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
In this paper; an imidazolium ionic liquid (IL) is used to functionalize multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) by covalent bonding on the MWNT surface. The functionalization not only provides a hydrophilic surface for ion accessibility but also prevents ...

The Matrix Element Method and its Application to Measurements of the Top Quark Mass

open access: yes, 2010
The most precise measurements of the top quark mass are based on the Matrix Element method. We present a detailed description of this analysis method, taking the measurements of the top quark mass in final states with one and two charged leptons as ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
