A Compact, Monostatic, Co-Circularly Polarized Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) Antenna With High Isolation

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2020
A compact, high-isolation, monostatic, co-circularly polarized (CP) simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) antenna with similar radiation patterns is presented. The proposed antenna system consists of a sequentially rotated array (SRA) of four dual-polarized antenna elements and two quadrature feeding networks.

Monostatic Copolarized Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) Antenna by Integrated Single-Layer Design

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2019
In this letter, a monostatic and cochannel simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) antenna with identical circularly polarized radiations of transmitting (TX) and receiving (RX) channels is designed using a thin single-layer substrate. Four concentrically arranged microstrip radiating elements are properly excited by two sets of feeding networks: the ...

Simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) mobile testbed

2016 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS), 2016
Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) systems typically utilize multiple cancellation layers to improve system isolation and avoid self-interference. The design of these different layers must be evaluated both individually and as a whole to determine their effectiveness in various environments.

Wideband simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) circular array system

2016 IEEE International Symposium on Phased Array Systems and Technology (PAST), 2016
A wideband simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) dual-layer circular array is considered to handle the space limitation and efficient use of wireless spectrum. The proposed STAR aperture configuration is composed of upper- and lower-layer circular arrays, where one works as transmitting and the other as receiving antenna. Each array consists of four

Antenna Systems for Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) Applications

International Symposium on Microelectronics, 2017
Abstract Several novel wideband co-polarized circulator-less monostatic antenna and array designs for co-channel simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) applications are presented. The monostatic STAR apertures are demonstrated first by utilizing multi-arm spiral antennas where a set of arms is used for transmitting (TX) and the other ...

Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR): Circulators Versus Nonreciprocal Antennas

2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019
Desired antenna and front-end for simultaneous transmit and receive systems in addition to nonlinear and/or time variant nonreciprocal antennas are reviewed. The STAR system requirements in terms of antennas and front-end are investigated. Then, the properties of some proposed techniques for nonreciprocal antennas and circulator-based systems are ...

Wideband simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) bi-layer circular array

2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2015
The main challenge with the full-duplex simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) systems is achieving high isolation over a wide bandwidth while preserving identical (or similar) radiation patterns in both, the transmitting and receiving modes. In this paper, a novel low profile wideband bi-layer STAR circular array configuration is presented.

Wideband Antenna Array for Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) Applications

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2017
Design and performance of a nonscanning antenna array with wideband simultaneous transmit and receive capability are discussed. The proposed configuration utilizes a four-arm spiral antenna as a unit cell to achieve high isolation between transmit (TX) and receive (RX) ports and decent far-field performance.

High-Directivty Broadband Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) Antenna System

2018 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2018
A broadband, circularly polarized (CP), and high-directivity STAR reflector antenna system is proposed. The high system isolation is achieved by mounting well-designed CP receiving (RX) and transmitting (TX) antennas with high front-to-back ratio (F/B) back-to-back.
