Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

A single crystal high-temperature pyrochlore antiferromagnet

open access: yes, 2014
We report the magnetic characterization of the frustrated transition metal pyrochlore NaCaCo$_2$F$_7$. This material has high spin Co$^{2+}$ in CoF$_6$ octahedra in a pyrochlore lattice, and disordered non-magnetic Na and Ca on the large-atom sites in ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

N′-[(E)-4-Methylbenzylidene]pyridine-4-carbohydrazide monohydrate

open access: yesIUCrData, 2016
In the title hydrate, C14H13N3O·H2O, the C=N double bond adopts an E conformation and the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 16.36 (10)°. In the crystal, N—H...O, O—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds link the components into (001) sheets.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Methyl 8-oxo-2-phenyl-1-oxaspiro[4.5]deca-2,6,9-triene-3-carboxylate

open access: yesIUCrData, 2016
The title compound, C17H14O4, is a 5/6 spiro-ring fused system, where the five- and six-membered rings are inclined to one another by 89.79 (5)° at the spiro-carbon. In the crystal, non-classical C—H ... O hydrogen bonds form inversion dimers and connect

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Morphological Studies of (Ge2)1-X(ZnSe)X Solid Solutions

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
Single-crystal films of the (Ge2)1-x(ZnSe)x solid solution from a limited tin solution-melt in the temperature range from 1023 K to 803 K at a cooling rate of 1-1.5 K/min on an EPOC installation were grown on Ge substrates and GaAs.

Colossal grain growth yields single-crystal metal foils by contact-free annealing

open access: yesScience, 2018
Turning many into one Single-crystal metal foils are valuable for their surface properties that allow for synthesis of materials like graphene. Jin et al. present a strategy for creating colossal single-crystal metal foils called “contact-free annealing”

Light output simulation of LYSO single crystal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We used the Geant4 simulation toolkit to estimate the light collection in a LYSO crystal by using cosmic muons and E=105 MeV electrons. The light output as a function of the crystal length is studied.
