Na3MgB37Si9: an icosahedral B12 cluster framework containing {Si8} units

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2022
Single crystals of a novel sodium–magnesium boride silicide, Na3MgB37Si9 [a = 10.1630 (3) Å, c = 16.5742 (6) Å, space group R\overline{3}m (No. 166)], were synthesized by heating a mixture of Na, Si and crystalline B with B2O3 flux in Mg vapor at 1373 K.

Domain structure regularization in monocrystalline barium hexaferrite

open access: yesSemiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics & Optoelectronics, 2018
Conditions for regular domain structure formation in a monocrystalline barium hexaferrite plate have been studied experimentally. The purpose of the work was to develop a simple and, at the same time, an effective method of regularizing the cylindrical ...

Microstructural Observations of “Single Crystal” Positive Electrode Materials Before and After Long Term Cycling by Cross-section Scanning Electron Microscopy

open access: yes, 2020
Single crystal LiNi0.5Mn0.3Co0.2O2 (SC532), LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2 (SC622) and LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 (SC811) electrodes were retrieved from heavily cycled commercial-grade pouch cells at 4.3 V for cross-section scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Superconductivity and single crystal growth of Ni0:05TaS2

open access: yes, 2009
Superconductivity was discovered in a Ni0:05TaS2 single crystal. A Ni0:05TaS2 single crystal was successfully grown via the NaCl/KCl flux method. The obtained lattice constant c of Ni0:05TaS2 is 1.1999 nm, which is significantly smaller than that of 2H ...

Raman Spectroscopic and SEM Analysis of Sodium-Zippeite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Raman at 298 and 77 K and infrared spectra of two samples of sodium-zippeite were studied and interpreted. U-O bond lengths in uranyl were calculated and compared with those inferred from the X-ray single crystal structure data of a synthetic sodium ...

Dynamic Fracture in Single Crystal Silicon

open access: yes, 1999
We have measured the velocity of a running crack in brittle single crystal silicon as a function of energy flow to the crack tip. The experiments are designed to permit direct comparison with molecular dynamics simulations; therefore the experiments ...

Single-crystal diamond low-dissipation cavity optomechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Single-crystal diamond cavity optomechanical devices are a promising example of a hybrid quantum system: by coupling mechanical resonances to both light and electron spins, they can enable new ways for photons to control solid state qubits.
