In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Samarium Magnetism Studied on SmPd2Al3 Single Crystal

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, specific features of Sm magnetism in an intermetallic compound have been studied. For this purpose, a high-quality single crystal of SmPd2Al3 was grown and subjected to detailed measurements of specific heat, magnetization, ac ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Synthesis of Single Crystal GaN Nanowires

open access: yesNanomaterials and Nanotechnology, 2016
The straight and curved gallium nitride (GaN) nanowires were successfully synthesized by controlling the gallium/ nitrogen reactant ratio via a chemical vapour deposition method.

Seeded growth of single-crystal two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks

open access: yesScience, 2018
Covalent organic frameworks writ large Covalent organic framework (COF) materials have been difficult to characterize structurally and to exploit because they tend to form powders or amorphous materials. Ma et al.

Diels−Alder Topochemistry via Charge-Transfer Crystals:  Novel (Thermal) Single-Crystal-to-Single-Crystal Transformations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The solid-state [4+2] cycloaddition of anthracene to bis(N-ethylimino)-1,4-dithiin occurs via a unique single-phase topochemical reaction in the intermolecular (1:1) charge-transfer crystal.

Shock compression and spallation of single crystal tantalum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present molecular dynamics simulations of shock-induced plasticity and spall damage in single crystal Ta described by a recently developed embedded-atom-method (EAM) potential and a volumedependent qEAM potential.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Redetermination of the crystal structure of yttrium chromium tetraboride, YCrB4, from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2023
The structural parameters of yttrium chromium tetraboride YCrB4 were refined based on single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. YCrB4 is orthorhombic, having a space group of type Pbam (No. 55) and with lattice parameters of a = 5.9425 (2), b = 11.4831 (4),

Growth and Characterization of Fe0.95Se0.6Te0.4 Single Crystal

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper we present the single crystal growth of Fe0.95Se0.6Te0.4 high TC superconducting sample by the modified Bridgman technique. The x-ray diffraction pattern shows the single crystal nature of the sample, as only (00l) peaks are detectable. The
