Electronic structure and magnetic anisotropy for nickel-based molecular magnets

open access: yes, 2004
Recent magnetic measurements on tetra-nickel molecular magnets [Ni(hmp)(ROH)Cl]$_4$, where R=CH$_3$, CH$_2$CH$_3$, or (CH$_2$)$_2$C(CH$_3$)$_3$ and hmp$^-$ is the monoanion of 2-hydroxymethylpyridine, revealed a strong exchange bias prior to the ...

Magnetic Anisotropy of Tetrahedral CoII Single-Ion Magnets: Solid-State Effects

open access: yesInorganic Chemistry, 2016
This study reports the static and dynamic magnetic characterization of two mononuclear tetrahedral CoII complexes, [Co{iPr2P(E)NP(E)iPr2}2], where E = S (CoS4) and Se (CoSe4), which behave as single-ion magnets (SIMs). Low-temperature (15 K) single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies point out that the two complexes exhibit similar structural features in

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

A new multi line-cusp magnetic field plasma device (MPD) with variable magnetic field for fundamental plasma studies

open access: yes, 2017
One of the fundamental problems is the understanding of physics of electrostatic and electromagnetic fluctuations in multi-scale plasma turbulence. Especially so, in continuously connected plasma regions with varying degree of magnetization.

Chemical and in silico tuning of the magnetisation reversal barrier in pentagonal bipyramidal Dy(iii) single-ion magnets.

open access: yesChemical Communications, 2018
Two new air-stable axial Dy(iii) single-ion magnets, [Dy(H2O)5(HMPA)2]Cl3·HMPA·H2O (1) and [Dy(H2O)5(HMPA)2]I3·2HMPA (2) (HMPA = hexamethylphosphoramide), exhibit magnetic hysteresis which remains open up to 9 K for 1@Y and 10 K for 2@Y, respectively. Ab

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
