Electrically-pumped, broad-area, single-mode photonic crystal lasers [PDF]
Planar broad-area single-mode lasers, with modal widths of the order of tens of microns, are technologically important for high-power applications and improved coupling efficiency into optical fibers.

Single mode levitation and translation [PDF]
A single frequency resonance mode is applied by a transducer to acoustically levitate an object within a chamber. This process allows smooth movement of the object and suppression of unwanted levitation modes that would urge the object to a different ...

We compare various approaches aiming at large-area high-power single-mode oxidized VCSELs. Stable and reproducible single-mode emission with SMSR (side-mode suppression ratio) greater than 30dB and output powers well above 5mW are reported for the long monolithic cavity and self-aligned shallow surface etching approaches, both of which are suitable for

ABSTRACT Introduction We developed MedSupport, a multilevel medication adherence intervention designed to address root barriers to medication adherence. This study sought to explore the feasibility and acceptability of the MedSupport intervention strategies to support a future full‐scale randomized controlled trial.

ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Comment on "Single-mode excited entangled coherent states"
In Xu and Kuang (\textit{J. Phys. A: Math. Gen.} 39 (2006) L191), the authors claim that, for single-mode excited entangled coherent states $| \Psi_{\pm}(\alpha,m)>$, \textquotedblleft the photon excitations lead to the decrease of the concurrence in the

Room temperature continuous wave operation of single-mode, edge-emitting photonic crystal Bragg lasers [PDF]
We report the first room temperature CW operation of two dimensional single-mode edge-emitting photonic crystal Bragg lasers. Single-mode lasing with single-lobed, diffraction limited far-fields is obtained for 100μm wide and 550μm long on-chip devices ...

The usual approach on electrostatic wave decay process for a weak beam-plasma system considers two different wave modes interplaying, the Langmuir and ion-sound mode. In the present paper, a single-mode approach is shown to be feasible for conditions where the respective dispersion relations undergo topological changes.

Parent‐to‐Child Information Disclosure in Pediatric Oncology
ABSTRACT Background Despite professional consensus regarding the importance of open communication with pediatric cancer patients about their disease, actual practice patterns of disclosure are understudied. Extant literature suggests a significant proportion of children are not told about their diagnosis/prognosis, which is purported to negatively ...
