Single‐phase flow in composite poroelastic media

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2001
AbstractThe mathematical formulation and analysis of the Barenblatt–Biot model of elastic deformation and laminar flow in a heterogeneous porous medium is discussed. This describes consolidation processes in a fluid‐saturated double‐diffusion model of fractured rock.

Characteristics of Single-Phase Flow in Microchannels

Volume 1: Fora, Parts A and B, 2002
Experiments were performed to study the flow behaviour of de-ionized water and nitrogen gas through round capillary rubes having an inner diameter of 100µm. At steady state, the single-phase pressure drop along the glass microchannel was measured and analysed.

Single phase flow in pneumatic conveying systems

1990
The design of any pneumatic conveying system requires a basic understanding of air flow in pipes and ducts as well as an appreciation of the various prime movers used to supply air.

Wax deposition in single phase flow

Fluid Phase Equilibria, 1999
A series of experiments on wax deposition from oil have been performed in a 50-m long by 43.4 mm ID jacketed flow loop at Tulsa University. Tests were performed on a 35°API crude oil from the Gulf of Mexico with a wax appearance temperature (WAT) of 120°F.

Fundamentals of Single-Phase and Multiphase Flow

2011
Single-phase or multiphase flow in chemical engineering apparatus and reactors such as evaporators, columns, fixed and fluidized beds, and stirred vessels is decisive for the efficiency and capacity of these equipment units. The mixing of two or more liquid components without the formation of a second liquid phase leads to a one-phase flow, for ...

Mathematical Models for Single-Phase Flow

2019
The chapter introduces you to mathematical modeling of flow in porous media. We start by explaining Darcy's law, which together with conservation of mass comprises the basic models for single-phase flow. We then discuss various special cases, including incompressible flow, constant compressibility, weakly compressible flow, and ideal gases.
