Single-Phase Flow Through Natural Fractures

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1988
ABSTRACT It is well known that for a single-phase fluid flowing between smooth parallel plates, the pressure drop is proportional to the cube of the aperture separating the plates. Some investigators2,3 have looked at the effect of surface roughness on flow using fabricated surfaces, induced fractures, or sawed surfaces and have found ...

Mathematical Models for Single-Phase Flow

2019
The chapter introduces you to mathematical modeling of flow in porous media. We start by explaining Darcy's law, which together with conservation of mass comprises the basic models for single-phase flow. We then discuss various special cases, including incompressible flow, constant compressibility, weakly compressible flow, and ideal gases.
