PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Algorithm for single phase-to-ground fault digital distance relay

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2012
The value of the potential that appears at the fault location during a ground fault at a high-voltage overhead line depends on many different factors and cannot be considered as an a priori known quantity. Owing to this, the influence of this quantity on the current and voltage measured at one of the line terminals is also unknown so the fault distance

Geometry optimization of dry ice blasting nozzle for the noise reduction using experimental validation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dry ice blasting provides many advantages to surface cleaning in which the blasting medium sublimate during the surface impact will not leave a secondary contamination.

A novel voltage sag approach during unintentional islanding scenarios: A survey from real recorded events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, a new voltage sag approach is analytically modelled and validated using both simulation and field measurements. The main aspect of this approach is to propose a new voltage sag feature which appears during unintentional islanding ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Single-Phase-to-Ground Fault Location Method Based on SOGI

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
Most fault location methods depend on the exact extraction of fault transient feature. However, due to the weak grounding current, arc grounding and intermittent problems, it is difficult to extract the fault transient feature. Based on second-order generalized integrator (SOGI), a single-phase-to-ground fault section location method for neutral point ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Ground deformation and source geometry of the 30 October 2016 Mw 6.5 Norcia earthquake (Central Italy) investigated through seismological data, DInSAR measurements, and numerical modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We investigate the Mw 6.5 Norcia (Central Italy) earthquake by exploiting seismological data, DInSAR measurements, and a numerical modelling approach. In particular, we first retrieve the vertical component (uplift and subsidence) of the displacements ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
