3-phase transformer used on single phase
14th International Conference Mechatronika, 2011This paper deals with the possibility of using three-phase transformer for single-phase power source and single-phase load. The first part of this work is focused on possible ways of utilizing three-phase transformer on single-phase power source and different ways how to load the transformer. Theoretical assumptions were verified by measurements.

Electronic transformer design using Single-phase Matrix Converter
2009 IEEE Symposium on Industrial Electronics & Applications, 2009This paper investigates single-phase electronic transformer design using two stages of Single-Phase Matrix Converter (SPMC) coupled through a high frequency transformer each at the primary and secondary winding in an effort to reduce the size in the future applications of power transformer. Loads are presented in the form of passive device.

Inception of Jump resonance in Single phase transformer
2021 4th Biennial International Conference on Nascent Technologies in Engineering (ICNTE), 2021The saturation of the transformer leads to abnormality as the device enters the nonlinear mode of operation. One such condition is ferroresonance in the transformer which has resulted in (2 - 4) pu overvoltage and overcurrent. The saturated transformer can initiate any one of the four modes of ferroresonance depending on initial conditions and circuit ...

Tutorial on Protection of Three Single-Phase Transformers
2019 72nd Conference for Protective Relay Engineers (CPRE), 2019At the design stage of a new power substation, one of the decisions to be made is whether to select a single three-phase power transformer or a bank of three single-phase transformers. At Churchill Falls Terminal Station 2, of the Lower Churchill Project, a bank of three single-phase 3×280 MVA 735 kV power transformers was selected because of the ...

Single-Phase Transformer Inrush Current Reduction Using Prefluxing
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2012Power transformers can experience large inrush currents upon energization, the severity of which depends on the source strength, the leakage impedance and residual flux of the transformer, and the angle of the applied voltage at energization. A novel inrush current reduction strategy has been implemented which involves setting a single-phase ...

Feedback techniques applied to the single-phase transformer
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Part II: Applications and Industry, 1957THE ANALYSIS of electric machines makes use of the vector diagram and the equivalent circuit diagram. Both of these methods give the various quantities sought (current, voltage, torque, etc.) under conditions of steady-state operation. When electric machines are used as elements in a general control system, one should rather apply the same techniques ...

Single-Phase, Two-Winding Transformers and Autotransformers/Variacs
2011Inductors discussed in Chap. 6 mostly have one winding only and a relatively large air gap to make it a linear device, where current and voltage are proportional to each other: if one defines in the time domain $$ {{\hbox{v}}_{\rm{L}}}({\hbox{t}}) = {\hbox{L}}\frac{{{\text{d}}{{\text{i}}_{\rm{L}}}{\text{(t)}}}}{\hbox{dt}}, $$ (7.1a) then one ...
