Optomechanics experiments are rapidly approaching the regime where the radiation pressure of a single photon displaces the mechanical oscillator by more than its zero-point uncertainty. We show that in this limit the power spectrum has multiple sidebands

Compact nonlinear model of an implantable electrode array for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) [PDF]
We describe the construction of a model of the electrode-electrolyte interface and surrounding electrolyte in the case of a platinum-electrode array intended for spinal-cord stimulation (SCS) application.

Single-photon vibrometry [PDF]
We propose and demonstrate a single-photon sensitive technique for optical vibrometry. It uses high speed photon counting to sample the modulated backscattering from a vibrating target. Designed for remote vibration sensing with ultralow photon flux, we show that this technique can detect small displacements down to 110 nm and resolve vibration ...

At first an experimental challenge, the ability to conduct experiments with single molecules has been strongly connected with progress in experimental techniques and instrumentation. Scanning probe techniques, such as the scanning tunneling microscope or the atomic force microscope (AFM), use sharp tips in close proximity (10−9 m) to a sample to ...

Diode pumped compact single frequency cw ruby laser
Investigations on 405 nm diode-pumped cw ruby lasers operated in less than 3 mm plane-parallel resonators are reported. With 2.5 mm long ruby crystals TEM _00 emission with output powers up to 40 mW are achieved.

Single-Atom Single-Photon Quantum Interface
A major challenge for a scalable quantum computing architecture is the faithful transfer of information from one node to another. We report on the realization of an atom-photon quantum interface based on an optical cavity, using it to entangle a single atom with a single photon and then to map the quantum state of the atom onto a second single photon ...

Design of Compact Hilbert Microstrip Bandpass Filter For Modern Wireless Communication Systems [PDF]
This paper presents a new microwave narrow-band bandpass filter with aminiaturized size for use in modern wireless communication systems. Theproposed filter design topology is based on a single-mode microstrip resonatorconstructed in the form of Hilbert ...
