Exponential smoothing techniques on time series river water level data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The increasing of river water level usually happens during raining season. This event can lead to devastating flash flood, which would eventually cause damage to properties and possibly, loss of human life.Such event is also known as extreme event due to ...

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Single or Combine? Tourism Demand Volatility Forecasting with Exponential Weighting and Smooth Transition Combining Methods

open access: yesComputation, 2022
Tourism forecasting has garnered considerable interest. However, integrating tourism forecasting with volatility is significantly less typical. This study investigates the performance of both the single models and their combinations for forecasting the ...

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Setting the Initial Value for Single Exponential Smoothing and the Value of the Smoothing Constant for Forecasting Using Solver in Microsoft Excel

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Although single exponential smoothing is a popular forecasting method for a wide range of applications involving stationary time series data, consistent rules about choosing the initial value and determining the value for the smoothing constant (α) are ...

A Provable Smoothing Approach for High Dimensional Generalized Regression with Applications in Genomics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In many applications, linear models fit the data poorly. This article studies an appealing alternative, the generalized regression model. This model only assumes that there exists an unknown monotonically increasing link function connecting the response $

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.
