Application of the Method of Initial Functions to Study Dynamics and Stress Distribution in Structural Members

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
This study investigates plate analyses employing the method of initial functions (MIFs) across various plate geometries and loading conditions. The conclusions derived from thick rectangular plates highlight substantial thickness‐induced effects on deflection and stress distributions.

A Novel Approach to Identify the Thermal Conductivities of a Thin Anisotropic Medium by the Boundary Element Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A common difficulty arises in characterizing the anisotropic properties of a thin sheet of anisotropic material, especially in the transverse direction.

An integral equation method for solving neumann problems on simply and multiply connected regions with smooth boundaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This research presents several new boundary integral equations for the solution of Laplace’s equation with the Neumann boundary condition on both bounded and unbounded multiply connected regions.

A meshless numerical method for optimised design of buried structures in elastic medium [PDF]

open access: yes
Performance-based design is critical to examine how changes in design parameters influence the safety and stability of the examined structural systems, ensuring optimised performance under varying conditions. Traditional approaches such as finite element

Bayesian optimization of underground railway tunnels using a surrogate model [PDF]

open access: yes
The assessment of soil–structure interaction (SSI) under dynamic loading conditions remains a challenging task due to the complexities of modeling this system and the interplay of SSI effects, which is also characterized by uncertainties across varying ...

Interface Tracking and Solid-Fluid Coupling Techniques with Coastal Engineering Applications

open access: yes, 2009
Multi-material physics arise in an innumerable amount of engineering problems. A broadly scoped numerical model is developed and described in this thesis to simulate the dynamic interaction of multi-fluid and solid systems.
