Genetic loci for blood lipid levels identified by linkage and association analyses in Caribbean Hispanics[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2011
To identify genetic loci influencing blood lipid levels in Caribbean Hispanics, we first conducted a genome-wide linkage scan in 1,211 subjects from 100 Dominican families on five lipid quantitative traits: total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein

Genetic Evidence Supporting a Role for Brain Region Volume and Functional Network Alterations in Major Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genome‐wide analyses indicate that reduced ventral diencephalon and thalamus volumes, along with decreased functional connectivity within the triple network (DMN/CEN/SN), are uniquely associated with the risk of major depression (MD) onset, compared to other similar severe psychiatric disorders.

DNA Polymorphisms in River Buffalo Leptin Gene

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
Leptin is a protein involved in the regulation of feed intake, fat metabolism, whole body energy balance, reproduction and hematopoiesis. In cattle Leptin gene has been considered a potential QTL influencing several production traits like meat production,

Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Discovery in Cultivated Tomato via Sequencing by Synthesis

open access: yes, 2012
Plant breeding is enhanced by the availability of molecular markers for rapid screening and selection in populations. Identification of polymorphic loci in cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) has been hampered by limited genome sampling across ...

Peptide Hormone‐Mediated Regulation of Plant Development and Environmental Adaptability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this review, recent advances in understanding the roles of plant peptide hormones in regulating growth, reproduction, and environmental adaptability are systematically summarized. It further elucidates the challenges in studying these peptides, such as their low abundance, functional redundancy, and complex signaling mechanisms, and highlights their
