Object and feature based modelling of attention in meeting and surveillance videos [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
MPhilThe aim of the thesis is to create and validate models of visual attention. To this extent, a novel unsupervised object detection and tracking framework has been developed by the author.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Switching Template Fitting Methods During [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper describes two methods of fitting deformable templates when tracking articulated objects using particle filters. One method fits a template to each of the links of an articulated object in a hierarchical way.

Structure preserving object tracking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Model-free trackers can track arbitrary objects based on a single (bounding-box) annotation of the object. Whilst the performance of model-free trackers has recently improved significantly, simultaneously tracking multiple objects with similar appearance

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Topology Based Object Tracking

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2019
A model for tracking objects whose topological properties change over time is proposed. Such changes include the splitting of an object into multiple objects or the merging of multiple objects into a single object.

Video content analysis for automated detection and tracking of humans in CCTV surveillance applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. The problems of achieving high detection rate with low false alarm rate for human detection and tracking in video sequence, performance scalability, and ...

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Non-Line-of-Sight Target Tracking With a Single Time Multiplexed Channel

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
Here we propose a non-line-of-sight (NLOS) tracking scheme using only one single-pixel single-photon channel. It is demonstrated that sending multiple beams with proper time delay enables multiplexing of multi-echoes of the hidden object in the single ...
