Fully integrated electronics for high-performance and high-speed acquisition with Single Photon Avalanche Diodes

open access: yes, 2019
Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs) offer clear advantages in single-photon measurements, but their operation at high rates is still an open challenge.

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Generation of single entangled photon-phonon pairs via an atom-photon-phonon interaction

open access: yes, 2019
Quantum blockade and entanglement play important roles in quantum information and quantum communication as quantum blockade is an effective mechanism to generate single photons (phonons) and entanglement is a crucial resource for quantum information ...

In Situ Magnetic Ordering and Microfabrication of Liquid Crystal Networks with Discretized Alignment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Miniaturizing liquid crystal network actuators typically demands costly laser writing or digital light processing. A low‐cost photolithography platform couples rotating photomasks with a Halbach magnetic array to discretize in‐plane molecular alignment down to 50 µm, producing programmable, light‐responsive grippers, checkerboards, and origami‐inspired

Spatially multiplexed single-photon sources based on binary-tree multiplexers with optimized structure

open access: yesScientific Reports
We develop a method for optimizing the structure of general binary-tree multiplexers realized with asymmetric photon routers aiming at improving the performance of spatially multiplexed single-photon sources.

Blue Upconversion Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes Achieving 1000 cd m−2 With an Operating Voltage of 2.7 V by Suppressing Interfacial Exciton Quenching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triplet‐blocking layer controls triplet exciton dynamics in blue upconversion OLEDs. The layer keeps charge transfer (CT)‐generated triplet excitons inside the triplet‐triplet annihilation (TTA) host, suppresses anode‐side interfacial quenching, and increases the steady‐state triplet population.

Two-photon microscopy : sequential imaging studies in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Microscopists have always desired to look inside various organ tissues to study structure, function and dysfunction of their cellular constituents. In the past, this has frequently required tissue extraction and histological preparation to gain access ...

Deciphering the Photopolymerization‐Induced Nanostructures and Interface Formation for Submicrometer Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the UV‐curing‐induced monomer‐rich domain, oligomer‐rich domain, and entangled oligomer domain. The cured submicron films in stressed state induce interlayer nano‐wrinkle structures during the deposition of the second layer. Stress‐free cured films in relaxed state form non‐diffusive, diffusive and semi‐diffusive interlayer ...

Fabrication and characterization of InGaAs/InP single-photon avalanche diode detectors

open access: yes, 2005
InGaAs/InP avalanche diodes with planar geometry have been, for the first time, specifically designed and fabricated for Geiger-mode operation, with the aim of developing detectors of single photons at 1550nm wavelength.

Charge‐Polarized Ni─S4 Single‐Atom Sites Drive Selective Photoreforming of Poly(lactic acid) to Lactate and Hydrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomically dispersed Ni–S4 sites on CdS nanorods induce interfacial charge polarization, directing photogenerated electrons to H2 evolution and holes to selective ester‐bond cleavage of poly(lactic acid). Without sacrificial reagents, this charge‐coupled system produces lactate while suppressing overoxidation, achieving an H2 evolution rate of 41.74 ...
