Nondestructive Methods For Inspection Of Seams Of Single-Ply Roofing Membranes
SPIE Proceedings, 1987Investigations were conducted regarding the use of the ultrasonic pulse echo and the infrared thermography nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods for detecting voids and delaminations in adhesive-bonded seams of single-ply roofing membranes. Previous studies had indicated that these defects could be detected using the two NDE methods.

A laboratory study was conducted to determine if a T-peel test was sensitive to differences in initial (7 days) bond strength for adhesive-bonded seams of EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) rubber membranes made under different application conditions. The main categories of application parameters investigated were: surface condition (cleanness,

Wind Resistance of Loose-Laid and Spot-Attached Single-Ply Roofing Membranes
1982Wind tunnel and current simulated uplift tests can be used to evaluate mechanically spot-attached single-ply membrane roofing systems if existing criteria for failure are modified. Tests indicate that these systems can be designed for use under very high wind conditions.
