Drawing Arrangement Graphs In Small Grids, Or How To Play Planarity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We describe a linear-time algorithm that finds a planar drawing of every graph of a simple line or pseudoline arrangement within a grid of area O(n^{7/6}). No known input causes our algorithm to use area \Omega(n^{1+\epsilon}) for any \epsilon>0; finding

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Roundness and positioning deviation prediction in single point incremental forming using deep learning approaches

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
This article proposes a deep learning technique for the prevision of the geometric accuracy in single point incremental forming. Moreover, predicting geometric accuracy is one of the most crucial measures of part quality.

Induction Heating Validation of Dieless Single-Point Incremental Forming of AHSS

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2017
Advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) is subject to a high deformation in geometry due to spring-back and high forces during forming. Therefore, dieless single-point incremental forming supported by induction heating was introduced.

Hybrid Auxetic Architectures: Integrating Curvature‐Driven Design for Enhanced Mechanical Tunability and Structural Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Forming behavior of paperboard in single point incremental forming

open access: yesBioResources, 2019
An increased demand for sustainable materials has led to intensive research in the field of three-dimensional paperboard forming. To date, this work has focused on forming processes with shape-giving tools. However, individual shapes are often required, especially for large-format products.
