Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Forming Force in Single Point Incremental Forming under Different Bending Conditions

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2013
Estimation of incremental sheet forming force is required in order to design dedicated equipment, utilize adapted machinery or develop online process control strategies. In the present work, forces on Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) of variable wall angle geometry were studied under different bending conditions.

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Investigation using single point incremental forming (SPIF) to fabricate patient-specific, titanium orbital floor implants [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
The floor of the human orbit is composed of thin bone that is prone to traumatic fracture. This leads to a loss of support for the eye, which can cause vision changes. Therefore, fractures may need surgical reconstruction using a thin, sheet-like implant.

Finite-strain formulation and FE implementation of a constitutive model for powder compaction

open access: yes, 2014
A finite-strain formulation is developed, implemented and tested for a constitutive model capable of describing the transition from granular to fully dense state during cold forming of ceramic powder.

Hellinger Distance Trees for Imbalanced Streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Classifiers trained on data sets possessing an imbalanced class distribution are known to exhibit poor generalisation performance. This is known as the imbalanced learning problem.

Enhancing CoFe Catalysts with V2CTX MXene‐Derived Materials for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...

Single point incremental sheet forming investigated by in-process 3D digital image correlation

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is a promising sheet metal forming process for prototyping and small batches, in which the blank is formed in a stepwise fashion by a displacement-controlled small-sized tool. Due to specific strain paths induced
