Single molecule rotational probing of supercooled liquids

Chem. Soc. Rev., 2014
Much of the interesting behavior that has been observed in supercooled liquids appears to be related to dynamic heterogeneity, the presence of distinct dynamic environments - with no apparent underlying structural basis - in these systems. To most directly interrogate these environments, proposed to span regions just a few nanometers across, molecular ...

Rotation in Biphenyls with a Single Ortho-Substituent

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2006
Barriers to rotation in a range up to 15.4 kcal mol(-1) were determined by dynamic NMR spectroscopy for a series of biphenyl compounds 1a-1h and 2a-2d with a single ortho-substituent. Ab initio calculations reproduce these barriers satisfactorily and indicate the ground-state conformation of these molecules.

Research on Rotation Direction of Single-Axis Rotation FOG SINS

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Rotation direction of single-axis rotation SINS is researched in this paper. The two aspects: one-way, positive and negative rotation and clockwise, counterclockwise rotation are deeply analyzed respectively, and experimental verification is also taken.

Photo-induced rotation of single molecules

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
We present the investigation of optically-induced rotation of single DCM (4-(dicyano methylene)-2-methyl-6-(p-dimethyl aminostyril)-4H-pyran) molecules in a low-T g polymer matrix. The rotation process is based on the photo-isomerization of the molecule occurring upon a resonant linearly polarized optical excitation.

Single Rotating Molecule-Machines: Nanovehicles and Molecular Motors

2014
In the last decade many molecular machines with controlled molecular motions have been synthesized. In the present review chapter we will present and discuss our contribution to the field, in particular through some examples of rotating molecular machines that have been designed, synthesized, and studied in our group.
