A scanning electron microscopy specimen holder for viewing different angles of a single specimen

Microscopy Research and Technique, 2010
AbstractThe specimen holder for scanning electron microscopy described herein allows a single specimen to be examined in any possible view and significantly improves object illumination. The specimen is glued to a fine pin and flexibly mounted on a double‐sided adhesive conductive pad on a rotatable pivot.

Examination of the effects of specimen geometry on single edge-cracked tension specimens

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2019
Abstract Single edge notch samples are popular for fatigue crack growth rate testing, particularly in aggressive environment because the geometry is very easy to place into a chamber and the material used is minimal. Several publications have highlighted K-solutions related to a variety of single edge notch geometries and several have highlighted ...

Stress Distribution in Single-Shear Sheet Specimens

1961
The state and distribution of stress in single-shear, double-notch sheet specimens were analyzed by the photoelastic technique. It was found that the shearing stress in the central area was neither pure nor uniform. Because of the stress state and distribution, it cannot be used to determine creep or stress-strain relations in pure shear.

Specimen Preparation for Single-Cell Sequencing Analysis of Skeletal Cells

2020
Recent work emphasizes that bone comprises numerous mesenchymal cell types each with different biologic functions, and deconvoluting the functions of these cells requires technical approaches with single-cell resolution, such as single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq).

Single specimen determination of Young's and bulk moduli

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1968
AbstractA new method is presented for the rapid and consecutive determination of the Young's and bulk moduli of polymeric materials. Usually these properties are determined by separate measurements. However, by using an undersized specimen in a standard compressibility device it has been found possible consecutively to determine both moduli on the same

The value of single-specimen estriol/creatinine determinations during pregnancy

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1973
Abstract The majority of opinion indicates that one of the best means of assessing the fetoplacental unit is by measuring the 24 hour maternal urinary estriol output. The practical disadvantages of such tests are mainly the inconvenience and inaccuracies of 24 hour urine collections. This paper describes our efforts to eliminate this problem.

Single-Specimen FEM-LEED Studies: Carbon on Tungsten

Journal of Applied Physics, 1969
Field-electron microscopy and low-energy-electron diffraction can be used in a complementary manner. A method of making such a direct combination on a single specimen is described and applied to a study of the problem of carbon contamination of tungsten surfaces.

[Two synchronous malignancies in a single nephrectomy specimen].

Der Pathologe, 2019
We report a case of a 65-year-old man examined for hematuria and neurologic symptoms. Radiologically a tumour of the kidney was suspected, with metastatic involvement of the brain and both lungs. The urologists then performed a cytoreductive nephrectomy. In histopathological examination of the nephrectomy specimen a clear cell renal cell carcinoma ...
