Numerical study of the circular opening effect on mechanical behaviour of rock under confinement

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2019
Opening holes in rock including their size and distribution can affect the performance of rock-related structures. A good understanding on this will contribute to, for example, rock cavern design, and construction, tunnelling, and mining engineering.

Detection of drug-resistance genes using single bronchoscopy biopsy specimens

open access: yesOncology Reports, 2007
Expression of three major resistance genes MDR1, MRP1 and LRP was investigated in small cell lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer and metastasis. Single biopsies of bronchoscopy from 73 patients were performed to investigate expression of these three resistance genes by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction.

Concurrent Tuberculosis and COVID-19 Testing from a Single Sputum Specimen for Enhanced Disease Detection

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: Tuberculosis (TB) and SARS-CoV-2 share similar symptoms and transmission routes. In early 2021, USAID and Stop TB Partnership recommended an integrated approach for simultaneous COVID-19 and TB testing in high TB burden countries ...

Single‐cell sequencing: Current applications in various tuberculosis specimen types

open access: yesCell Proliferation
AbstractTuberculosis (TB) is a chronic disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) and responsible for millions of deaths worldwide each year. It has a complex pathogenesis that primarily affects the lungs but can also impact systemic organs. In recent years, single‐cell sequencing technology has been utilized to characterize the composition ...

A Mg2+-dependent high-yield method for extracting high-molecular-weight genomic DNA from a single planarian specimen

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background The isolation of intact, high-molecular-weight genomic DNA (HMW gDNA) is essential for achieving complete genome assemblies. However, extracting HMW gDNA from a single individual of Dugesia japonica remains a technical challenge using the ...
