Fetal Growth Restriction at a Universal Late Third‐Trimester Scan and Relationship With Adverse Outcome: Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the contribution of fetal growth restriction ultrasound phenotypes to adverse perinatal outcomes at term. Design Retrospective population‐based cohort study. Setting John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK where universal ultrasound at 35+1–36+6 weeks is performed. Population Congenital abnormalities and births before the scan

The Performance of Selective Screening Ultrasound to Detect the Small‐for‐Gestational‐Age Foetus: A Prospective Cohort Study Nested Within the DESiGN Randomised Control Trial

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Evidence on the performance of foetal growth ultrasound parameters to detect the Small‐for‐Gestational‐Age (SGA) foetus for a selective cohort is limited. We report the performance of estimated foetal weight under the 10th percentile (EFW < 10th) at the last selective screening ultrasound to detect SGA based on gestational age of ...

Risk of Placental Pathology Across Ultrasound‐Defined Phenotypes of Impaired Fetal Growth in Dichorionic Twins: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the risk of placental dysfunction associated with different ultrasound‐based phenotypes of impaired fetal growth in dichorionic twin pregnancies. Design Retrospective cohort study. Setting Single tertiary centre. Population Patients with dichorionic twin pregnancies delivered at ≥ 320/7 (2011–2023) (N = 753).

Efficacy and safety of different vasopressor infusions on feto‐maternal outcomes in normotensive patients undergoing caesarean delivery: a systematic review and network meta‐analysis of randomised controlled trials

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Phenylephrine infusion is widely endorsed by guidelines as the preferred prophylactic drug for spinal hypotension in patients undergoing caesarean delivery; however, clinical practice continues to show marked variability in the selection of vasopressor drugs.

The effect of temporary uterine artery ligation on blood loss during laparoscopic myomectomy: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
This meta‐analysis evaluates whether temporary uterine artery ligation (TUAL) reduces intraoperative estimated blood loss during laparoscopic myomectomy (LM). Data from seven comparative studies were analyzed to evaluate their hemostatic efficacy, surgical impact, and suitability for wider clinical use.

Contraction frequency and acidemia at birth: A case–control study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
This case–control study shows an association by exposure level between contraction frequency during the final hour before birth and fetal acidemia. Effect sizes are similar regardless of oxytocin use. Contraction frequencies above both the conventional and revised thresholds are common, indicating poor positive predictive value.

Monochorionic twin pregnancies conceived through assisted reproduction: Maternal and perinatal clinical outcomes

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
ART‐conceived monochorionic twin pregnancies are associated with a higher burden of maternal complications compared with spontaneous conception. While fetal and neonatal outcomes did not differ significantly between groups after adjustment for relevant confounders, ART‐conceived pregnancies showed higher point estimates for several adverse outcomes ...
