Umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry in fetuses with a single umbilical artery

Obstetrics & Gynecology, 1997
Doppler waveform analysis of the umbilical artery is an important tool for the evaluation of high-risk pregnancies. Yet, available data are based on normal values from three-vessel umbilical cords. Our purpose was to evaluate the value of umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry in fetuses with a single umbilical artery. One hundred thirteen consecutive ...

Genesis of single umbilical artery

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1970
Abstract It is generally accepted that a single umbilical artery in the cord is the result of either aplasia or atrophy of the missing vessel although evidence seemingly supporting such mechanisms is seldom found. In the course of studying the development of the umbilical arteries in young human embryos another possible cause became apparent.

Rhombencephalosynapsis: Association with single umbilical artery

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 2008
A 6-year-old girl who presented with developmental delay and non-progressive ataxia is described. MRI of brain showed agenesis of cerebellar vermis with fusion of cerebellar hemispheres and dentate nuclei. MRI findings were characteristic of rhombencephalosynapsis. Partial agenesis of corpus callosum and absent septum pellucidum were also seen.

Umbilical artery blood flows among pregnancies with single umbilical artery

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2015
We read with interest the article by Baron et al. [1] that the lower impedance with the same peak systolic velocity level was observed in the umbilical artery of patients with a single umbilical ar...

Pregnancy Outcome in Isolated Single Umbilical Artery

American Journal of Perinatology, 2008
Our objective was to determine whether the rate of small for gestational age (SGA) infants and adverse perinatal outcome are increased in pregnancies diagnosed with an isolated single umbilical artery (SUA). We compared 297 pregnancies with a SUA diagnosed on routine obstetrical ultrasound with 297 pregnancies with a three-vessel cord control ...

Perinatal Outcomes in Isolated Single Umbilical Artery

American Journal of Perinatology, 2009
We sought to determine the rate of adverse perinatal outcomes in pregnancies diagnosed with an isolated single umbilical artery (SUA). We performed a retrospective review comparing 68 pregnancies with an isolated SUA to 68 pregnancies with a three-vessel cord (3VC). Pregnancies with structural or karyotypic anomalies were excluded.

Single Umbilical Artery and Its Associated Findings

Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 2010
To estimate whether the presence of a single umbilical artery is associated with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), fetal demise, or major congenital anomalies. We performed a retrospective cohort study of all consecutive singleton pregnancies undergoing routine anatomic survey between 1990 and 2007 at a major tertiary medical center. Two dedicated

[Single umbilical artery (SUA)].

Akusherstvo i ginekologiia, 2010
Single umbilical artery (SUA) is the most common abnormality of the umbilical cord. It is associated with an increased incidence of atresia of hollow organs, renal abnormalities, limb reduction defects and spontaneous abortions. The aim of our study is to establish the association of SUA with types of malformations and the corresponding pathology of ...

Antenatal sonographic detection of single umbilical artery

jpme, 1991
The absence of one umbilical artery of single umbilical artery (SUA) is one of the most common congenital malformations in man. This vascular anomaly of the umbilical cord is frequently associated with other congenital malformations as well as some adverse perinatal events such as intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), premature delivery, and ...
