Optical switching based on singlet-singlet excited state absorption
Nonlinear Optics: Materials, Fundamentals and Applications, 1996Progress in optical computing, optical communication and optical information processing depends on a large extent of the availability of fast all-optical switches. Most of the all-optical switches utilize nonlinear FP cavity1,2,3. Its absorptive loss is very large because of working on the resonant wavelength, and the switching time is districted by ...

Single spin-configuration singlet states
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1977It is shown that no single spin-configuration singly excited singlet state can exist which is at the same time self-consistent and orthogonal to the closed shell ground state, unless the orthogonality is assured by differing symmetry of the two states.

Dimethylcarbene: A Singlet Ground State?
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1995Ab initio molecular electronic structure theory has been used to determine the energy separation between the lowest {sup 3}B{sub 1} and {sup 1}A states of dimethylcarbene. The geometries of both states have been optimized at the self-consistent Field(SCF) and the single and double excitation configurationinteraction (CISD) levels of theory using ...

Isolated pairs of spin-1/2 nuclei can be prepared in a singlet state configuration that is immune to intrapair dipole–dipole relaxation, often the main source for the longitudinal magnetization decay constant T1. Because of this property singlet states can hold polarization for much longer than T1.

Slow Diffusion by Singlet State NMR Spectroscopy
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2005Small diffusion coefficients can be measured by using populations of singlet states that have a relaxation time constant, T(s), which can be much longer than the longitudinal relaxation time, T1. Spatial information can be encoded with pulsed field gradients in the manner of stimulated echo sequences.

Magnetism in singlet ground states
Hyperfine Interactions, 1997The spin‐gap phenomenon is a key characteristic of high Tc superconducting cuprates, whose experimental results are summarized and discussed in the context of the slave‐boson mean field theory of the extended t–J model. It is seen that there exists satisfactory agreement between theory and experiments in bilayer cuprates.

Singlet ground state actinide chemistry with geminals
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2015We present the first application of the variationally orbital optimized antisymmetric product of 1-reference orbital geminals (vOO-AP1roG) method to singlet-state actinide chemistry.

The lowest singlet states of octatetraene revisited
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2011The two lowest excited singlet states of all-trans-1,3,5,7-octatetraene, 2 1A−g and 1 1B+u, are studied by means of high level ab initio methods computing the vertical and adiabatic excitation energies for both states and the vertical emission energy for the \documentclass[12pt]{minimal}\begin{document}${1{\hspace{1.42271pt}}{^1{\rm A}_g^-}}$\end ...

Excited singlet state properties of anthracenedione photosensitizers
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 1992The absorption, fluorescence and S1 state kinetics of anthracycline antitumour drugs (e.g. daunomycin, adriamycin) and several imino- and/or amino-substituted derivatives are investigated. The study, which includes all anthracyclines which possess photocytocidal activity, is extended to the disubstituted aminoanthracenedione, mitoxantrone, a red-light ...
