Magnetism in singlet ground states
Hyperfine Interactions, 1997The spin‐gap phenomenon is a key characteristic of high Tc superconducting cuprates, whose experimental results are summarized and discussed in the context of the slave‐boson mean field theory of the extended t–J model. It is seen that there exists satisfactory agreement between theory and experiments in bilayer cuprates.

The lowest singlet state of dibenzofuran
Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 1973Abstract The vapor absorption of dibenzofuran has been reexamined, and the spectrum and lifetime of the vapor fluorescence have been measured. Also measured were the polarized absorption in durene host and the depolarized absorption, fluorescence, and phosphorescence in cyclododecane host at 4 K.

Singlet state symmetries of diphenylacetylene
Chemical Physics, 1974Abstract Polarized reflection spectra of the (001) face of diphenylacetylene single cyrstals have been measured. Analysis of the corresponding absorption spectra obtained by Krames-Kronig analysis yields the excited state symmetries of five strong bands in the wavelength rage 3000 A to 1300 A.

The zwitterionic singlet excited state of ethylene as a singlet methylene dimer
Chemical Physics Letters, 1980Abstract The potential hole of the lowest singlet excited-state potential surface of ethylene is explored through non-empirical double zeta calculations. In these highly unsymmetrical geometries the closed-shell SCF description is relevant and further extensive Cl brings only small geometry changes. The negative center is strongly pyramidalized.

Isolated pairs of spin-1/2 nuclei can be prepared in a singlet state configuration that is immune to intrapair dipole–dipole relaxation, often the main source for the longitudinal magnetization decay constant T1. Because of this property singlet states can hold polarization for much longer than T1.
