FROM SINGULARITY TO SINGULARITY

GAP BODHI TARU - A GLOBAL JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES, 2023
Due to the widespread growth and the flexibility to adopt itself to geo-socio-cultural changes, English has become a global language. This article intends to show the transgression of English from being the language of cultural hegemony (singularity) to becoming the language of multicultural identification in the light of the world Englishes (plurality)

Cowley’s Singularity

2023
This chapter examines the issues generated by Samuel Johnson’s critique of Cowley’s Pindaric odes in the Lives of the Poets (1779-81). I suggest that the singularities and eccentricities of Cowley’s poetry expose certain fundamental tensions in Johnson’s criticism.

Lissajous singularities

Optics Letters, 2003
Coherent optical Lissajous states are easily created by nonlinear processes such as second-harmonic generation (SHG). Singular properties of such states are discussed and illustrated theoretically with non-phase-matched SHG of an ellipse field containing a C point.

Schwarzschild Singularity

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1969
A new point of view is presented for which the Schwarzschild singularity becomes a real point singularity on which the sources of Schwarzschild's exterior solution are localized.

Singular singular-perturbation problems

1977
Abstract : Consider initial problems for nonlinear singularly perturbed systems of the form epsilon sub z dot = f(z,t,epsilon) in the singular situation that f sub z(z,t,0) has a nontrivial null space. Under appropriate hypotheses, such problems have asymptotic solutions as epsilon approaches 0 for t or = 0 consisting of the sum of a function of t and ...

Toric Singularities

American Journal of Mathematics, 1994
The aim of the paper is to give a definition of toric singularity in the most general context without referrings neither to the ambient variety of toroidal embeddings nor to a base field or scheme. At first the author recalls the notion of logarithmic structure on a scheme due to Fontaine and Illusie [see the author in: Algebraic Analysis, Geometry ...

Corner singularities and singular perturbations

ANNALI DELL UNIVERSITA DI FERRARA, 2001
Summary: A corner singularity expansion is developed for a singularly perturbed elliptic boundary value problem. The problem is set in a sector of the plane. In the expansion, particular attention is paid to the singular perturbation parameter. The result is used to give pointwise bounds on derivatives of the solution.
