On the Schrödinger Singular Perturbation Problem
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1985Summary: The Schrödinger singular perturbation problem arises in quantum mechanics and consists of approximating certain solutions of the Klein- Gordon equations by solutions of the Schrödinger equation in functions of a small parameter. We consider here an abstract version for operator equations in Banach spaces.

On a Singular Perturbation Problem
1994A uniformly valid asymptotic approximation is constructed for the solution to the initial value problem $$\ddot v + \varepsilon t\dot v + v = 0, v(0) = 0, \dot v(0) = 1$$ , as e → 0. From this, it is deduced that if et → 0 then $$v(t,\varepsilon ) \sim {e^{ - \varepsilon {t^2}/4}}\sin t$$ , and if et → ∞ then $$v(t,\varepsilon ) \sim \

Monotone Difference Schemes for Singular Perturbation Problems
SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1982We consider numerical solutions of the boundary value problem $\varepsilon y'' - (f(y))' - b(x,y) = 0$, $0 \leqq x \leqq 1$, $y(0) = A$, $y(1) = B$, $\varepsilon < 0$, $b_y \geqq \delta < 0$, with monotone difference schemes on nonuniform grids. We prove general convergence results and show that the Engquist–Osher monotone scheme will reproduce ...

Singular perturbations of elliptic problems
Annali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata, 1973The paper treates applications of singular perturbations of variational inequalities, to differential problems. Some informations on the boundary layer phenomenon are obtained.

Singular Perturbation Problems Involving Curvature
2015Consider an anisotropic area functional, giving rise to a variational principle for the shape of crystal surfaces. Sometimes such a functional is regularised with an additional curvature term to avoid difficulties coming from a lack of convexity. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the resulting functional as the strength of the regularisation tends ...

One-Dimensional Singular Perturbed Problems
2017In this chapter, we introduce a singular perturbed problem and a numerical difficulty associate with its discretization. We first consider the one-dimensional advective dominated advection-diffusion problem, both in terms of numerical solutions and its asymptotic expansion. We then consider a more general asymptotic expansion, including a reaction term
