On a simple singular perturbation problem

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1985
The limit as \(\epsilon \downarrow 0\) of the solution u(x) to a first order scalar ordinary differential equation \(\epsilon u'(x)=f(u(x ...

Componentwise Perturbation Analysis of the Singular Value Decomposition of a Matrix

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A rigorous perturbation analysis is presented for the singular value decomposition (SVD) of a real matrix with full column rank. It is proved that the SVD perturbation problem is well posed only when the singular values are distinct.

Elliptic perturbations for Hammerstein equations with singular nonlinear term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
We consider a singular elliptic perturbation of a Hammerstein integral equation with singular nonlinear term at the origin. The compactness of the solutions to the perturbed problem and, hence, the existence of a positive solution for the ...

On Tykhonov's theorem for convergence of solutions of slow and fast systems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 1998
Slow and fast systems gain their special structure from the presence of two time scales. Their analysis is achieved with the help of Singular Perturbation Theory.

Wavelets collocation method for singularly perturbed differential–difference equations arising in control system

open access: yesResults in Applied Mathematics
In this paper, we present a wavelet collocation method for efficiently solving singularly perturbed differential–difference equations (SPDDEs) and one-parameter singularly perturbed differential equations (SPDEs) taking into account the singular ...

The predictability of large-scale wind-driven flows [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2001
The singular values associated with optimally growing perturbations to stationary and time-dependent solutions for the general circulation in an ocean basin provide a measure of the rate at which solutions with nearby initial conditions begin to ...
