Chiral speciation in terrestrial pulmonate snails. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
On the basis of data in the literature, the percentages of dextral versus sinistral species of snails have been calculated for western Europe, Turkey, North America (north of Mexico), and Japan.

Multiscale Structural Analysis of Ediacaran–Cambrian Rocks on the Northeastern Edge of the Saghro Inlier (Eastern Anti-Atlas): Relevance of Post-Cambrian Deformation

open access: yesGeosciences, 2023
The Ediacaran–Cambrian rocks on the northeastern edge of the Saghro inlier experienced polycyclic tectono-thermal events, which are reported here based on a multiscale structural analysis, from field measurements to fluid inclusion planes. Three striking

Dextral and sinistral Amphidromus inversus (Gastropoda: Pulmonata: Camaenidae) produce dextral sperm [PDF]

open access: yesZoomorphology, 2011
Coiling direction in pulmonate gastropods is determined by a single gene via a maternal effect, which causes cytoskeletal dynamics in the early embryo of dextral gastropods to be the mirror image of the same in sinistral ones. We note that pulmonate gastropod spermatids also go through a helical twisting during their maturation.

Biogenic Design of the Flexible, Resilient, and Hard Mineral Protector in Door Snails. [PDF]

open access: yesSmall Sci
A calcareous door (clausilium) of door snails combines hardness for defense and flexibility for opening and closing. The biogenic design of a clausilium stalk is studied as a unique architecture balancing several properties. Internal observations reveal a double‐layered structure: a hard, dense envelope with aragonite rods and a flexible, low‐density ...

STRUCTURAL-GEODYNAMIC CONTROL OF KIMBERLITE PIPES OF THE YAKUT DIAMOND PROVINCE ACCORDING TO THE DATA OF GRAVISTRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2021
The article deals with the fundamental concepts of a new method of interpretation of regional gravimetry (scale 1:1000000) based on the idea of the deformational nature of low-frequency gravity anomalies.

CCAF-DB: the Caribbean and Central American active fault database [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2020
A database of ∼250 active fault traces in the Caribbean and Central American regions has been assembled to characterize the seismic hazard and tectonics of the area, as part of the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) Foundation's Caribbean and Central American

Enantiomorphs and taxonomy of three conchological species in flat-shelled snails Trichocathaica (Pulmonata, Camaenidae) [PDF]

open access: yesZooKeys, 2018
Biomodal (flat/globular or slender/tall) shell/body shapes are associated with dichotomous (simultaneous reciprocal or non-reciprocal) modes of copulation behaviour in the fully-shelled stylommatophoran snails.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OF AMPHIDROMUS INVERSUS ANNAMITICUS(CROSSE & P. FISCHER, 1863) (GASTROPODA, STYLOMMATOPHORA, CAMAENINAE) FROM VIETNAM

open access: yesBulletin of the Iraq Natural History Museum, 2023
As a part of the survey discovering the land snail fauna of Can Tho City, Vietnam, this study recorded snails for the first time in the city and an additional data on Amphidromus inversus annamiticus (Crosse & P.
