Developing Highly Effective Nanoparticle mRNA Therapeutic for Pediatric Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis‑induced pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome suppresses FOXF1 in lung endothelial cells which causes life‐threatening lung damage. To counter this, researchers developed nanoparticles that specifically target these cells and deliver FOXF1 mRNA.

The Deubiquitinase UCHL1 Drives Susceptibility to Atrial Fibrillation by Stabilizing CaMKII‐δ

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
UCHL1 is highly upregulated in mice and patients with AF. UCHL1 directly binds to and removes K48‐linked polyubiquitin chains from CaMKII‐δ at K251 and enhances CaMKII‐δ stability, which activates RyR2, disrupts Ca2+ handling, and promotes AF. These findings establish UCHL1 as a critical regulator of CaMKII‐δ stability and AF‐related Ca2+ handling ...

Astrocytes Coordinate Neurovascular Coupling During Prolonged Sensory Demand via AQP4/TRPA1/BEST1/D‐Serine Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuronal activation leads to astrocytic transient volume changes, activating transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) channels, leading to Ca2+ influx. Activation of TRPA1 causes the release of D‐serine through BEST1. Finally, the augmented extracellular levels of D‐serine boost neuronal activity by binding GluN1‐containing NMDARs, leading to CBV

Retrospective Grid Cells in the Medial Entorhinal Cortex Encode Past Paths During Spatial Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Retrospective grid cells are identified in the medial entorhinal cortex, with spatial firing patterns that become most grid‐like when activity is projected onto recently traversed locations. Their coding loses spatial precision in darkness and is disrupted during assisted movement, indicating that entorhinal representations incorporate recent path ...

STING/Type I Interferon Pathway Activation Confers Multimodal Therapeutic Benefits in Osteomyelitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
STING/type I interferon signaling counteracts osteomyelitis through coordinated control of pain, bone destruction, and abscess formation. It inhibits pathogen‐induced nociceptor activation, restrains osteoclast‐mediated bone resorption, and suppresses IL‐1β‐driven neutrophil recruitment.

Serum vitamin D level and its association with vertigo frequency and severity in Meniere disease

open access: yesScientific Reports
Meniere disease, known for its vertigo episodes and aural symptoms, can impose significant burden on patients. Vitamin D is hypothesized to have an alleviating effect on Meniere disease symptoms.

FOREIGN BODY IN MAXILLARY SINUS WITH SKIN FISTULA – CLINICAL CASE

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Sciences, 2019
We present the case of a 41 years old patient with poor social status and previous facial trauma with a sharp object (wood branch) 2 years ago. Although it was performed the extraction of the branch in a local ENT department, the patient developed a ...

Degrading GPX4 via Biomimetic Nanoparticle‐Mediated In Situ Synthesis of Deep‐Learning‐Designed Binder‐Degron Chimeras for Prostate Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A deep‐learning‐designed binder is fused to a combinatorial degron to create a binder‐degron chimera (bdC) that recruits the CUL2‐RING ubiquitin ligase complex. Encapsulation in a prostate‐cancer‐targeted, CD47‐camouflaged nanocarrier enables tumor‐specific in situ bdC expression, triggering GPX4 degradation and ferroptosis, thereby establishing a ...

Long-term follow-up of a Patient with Malignant Transformation of Inverted Papilloma into Sinonasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma

open access: yesAllergy & Rhinology, 2017
Introduction Inverted papillomas (IP) are benign sinonasal neoplasms, which account for 0.5–4% of all nasal tumors. IPs have been known to transform into squamous cell carcinoma in 5–15% of cases.

A Robust Bio‐Supportive Hydrogel Patch for Full‐Thickness Repair of Gastroesophageal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gastroesophageal defect repair remains a formidable clinical challenge plagued by high leakage and life‐threatening complications. We develop a double‐disc, highly crystalline PVA‐based RBS hydrogel patch featuring suture‐free sealing, robust acid/enzyme resistance and mechanical durability.
