From Clinic to Computation: Multiscale Bioengineering Strategies for Durable Biological Aortic Valve Replacements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

Effects of thickness stretching in functionally graded plates and shells

open access: yes, 2011
1The present work evaluates the effect of thickness stretching in plate/shell structures made by materials which are functionally graded (FGM) in the thickness directions.

Paracrine Factor Local Gradient‐Generating System for Engineering Perfusable Vascularized Hepatocyte Tissues with Perfusion‐Induced Proliferation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A paracrine factor local gradient (PFLG)‐generating system enables microvessel penetration across 3D hepatocyte tissues. The resulting vascularized constructs recapitulate hepatic sinusoidal hepatocyte—endothelial contact architecture and enhance hepatic functions in vitro.

Analysis Of Sinusoidal Loads On A Simply Supported Beam Using Hyperbolic Shear Deformation Theory

open access: yesNanotechnology Perceptions
Background: The overlaid bar speculation has been approved in a few fields, including sports, flight, medication, and marine developments. Cantilever radiates, fixed radiates, and basically upheld radiates were dissected under different stacking situations.

Assessment of refined higher order theories for the static and vibration analysis of laminated composite cylindrical shells

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2022
In the present study, a generalized shell theory is presented and applied for the analysis of laminated composite cylindrical shells. A theoretical unification of the several refined shell theories is presented.

Charge‐Acoustic Phonon Coupling Determined Carrier Transport Properties in FAxMA1−xPbBr3 Perovskite Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates acoustic phonon‑carrier coupling in FAxMA1−xPbBr3 single crystals using time‑domain Brillouin scattering. The results show that increasing the FA content in FAxMA1−xPbBr3 single crystal reduces both the elastic constant and the intrinsic carrier mobility governed by the acoustic phonon‑carrier coupling.

Free vibration of thick orthotropic plates using trigonometric shear deformation theory

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
In this paper a trigonometric shear deformation theory is presented for the free vibration of thick orthotropic square and rectangular plates. In this displacement based theory the in-plane displacement field uses sinusoidal function in terms of ...

Scalable Laser Processing Enables Transparent, Accretion Scale‐Independent, Ice‐Shedding Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a scalable laser‐based method to create wave‐like micro‐patterns on glass surfaces that counter the conventional view that roughness increases ice adhesion. These patterns direct crack propagation at the ice–glass interface, enabling low‐force, multi‐directional ice detachment while maintaining substrate transparency. A theoretical model
