The study evaluates mill scale‐based briquettes, which meet industrial standards for shatter strength and exhibit a low decrepitation index. Despite their limited reducibility in nonisothermal reduction experiments, softening and melting results indicate potential application as a substitute for conventional acidic iron‐bearing materials for use in ...

Double Slag Operating Standard for Mitigation of CO2 Emissions in Basic Oxygen Steelmaking
Basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steelmaking uses a double slag process (DSP) to produce low‐phosphorus steel. To reduce carbon emissions in a BOF, the hot metal ratio (HMR) must be lowered. The present article describes the optimal conditions for DSP operations under low‐HMR conditions: temperature of 1360 ± 5 °C, total Fe content of 10 ± 2 wt%, basicity (=

Hydrogen‐based direct reduced iron (H‐DRI) melts differently from scrap and carbon‐bearing DRI. This work combines differential scanning calorimetry experiments, FactSage thermodynamics, and simple composition‐based regression to predict solidus, liquidus, heat capacity, and enthalpy for H‐DRI.

The in situ agglomeration behavior of semisolid Al–silicate inclusions in Si‐killed steel is studied using high‐temperature confocal scanning laser microscopy. Particle motion and interparticle forces at the steel/argon interface are quantified and compared with a modified capillary interaction model.

Abstract Background and aims Prison needle exchange programs (PNEPs) are evidence‐based, cost‐effective interventions that prevent transmission of blood‐borne viruses. PNEPs were introduced in a minority of Canadian federal prisons in 2018; however, participation is contingent on a mandatory approval process known as a “Threat Risk Assessment” (TRA ...

Abstract Background While skill development is generally linked to relevant practice, the 2022 PISA creative thinking report revealed a negative association between students' creative thinking performance and their engagement in creative activities. Aims This study explored whether this negative association was linear, persisted across countries and ...

Unravelling the evolution of the Frébouge polygenetic cone in Val Ferret (Mont Blanc Massif)
Proglacial settings in the Alps are typically polygenetic, often characterized by a complex and discontinuous interplay between glacial, fluvial and gravitational processes. These processes yield high volumes of sediments, which usually exceed their transportation capacity.

ABSTRACT This study investigates garnet–clinopyroxene double‐layered coronae in a metagabbronorite from the high‐grade metamorphic Gföhl Unit (Bohemian Massif). The coronae formed at the interfaces between relic magmatic orthopyroxene, still preserved in the cores of the coronae, and the plagioclase‐rich rock matrix.

ABSTRACT Sleep problems are increasingly common among students in higher education, but long‐term trajectories before, during and after the COVID‐19 pandemic remain poorly described. We analysed population‐level surveillance data from the Students' Health and Wellbeing Study conducted in Norway in 2010, 2014, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023, including nearly
