First Demonstration of a Pixelated Charge Readout for Single-Phase Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers

open access: yesInstruments, 2020
Traditional charge readout technologies of single-phase Liquid Argon Time projection Chambers (LArTPCs) based on projective wire readout introduce intrinsic ambiguities in event reconstruction. Combined with the slow response inherent in LArTPC detectors,

Single Photon Counting with Silicon Photomultipliers, shortening systems and incoherent illumination [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2012
In this work it is shown the benefit of using pulse shortening systems for conforming photodetection pulses provided by Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs).

Understanding the Nonlinear Response of SiPMs

open access: yesSensors
A systematic study of the nonlinear response of Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) was conducted through Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. The MC code was validated against experimental data for two different SiPMs. Nonlinearity mainly depends on the balance between the photon rate and the pixel recovery time.

Analog SiPM in planar CMOS technology

open access: yes2014 44th European Solid State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC), 2014
Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) are emerging single photon detectors used in many applications requiring large active area, photon number resolving capability and immunity to magnetic fields. We developed planar analog SiPMs in a reliable and cost-effective CMOS technology with a total photosensitive area of about 1×1 mm2. Three devices with different

Recovery Time of Silicon Photomultiplier with Epitaxial Quenching Resistors

open access: yesInstruments, 2017
The silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) is a promising semiconductor device for low-level light detection. The recovery time, or the photon-counting rate of the SiPM is essential for high-flux photon detection in such applications as photon counting computer ...

4D-tracking with digital SiPMs

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment
Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) are the state-of-the-art technology in single-photon detection with solid-state detectors. Single Photon Avalanche Diodes (SPADs), the key element of SiPMs, can now be manufactured in CMOS processes, facilitating the integration of a SPAD array into custom monolithic ASICs.

Understanding and simulating SiPMs

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2019
Abstract The silicon-photomultiplier (SiPM) is becoming the device of choice for different applications, for example in fast timing like in time of flight positron emission tomography (TOF-PET) and in high energy physics (HEP). It is also becoming a choice in many single-photon or few-photon based applications, like for spectroscopy, quantum ...

Co‐Firing Slow Solidification Process for Growing Indium‐Doped Cs3Cu2I5 Single Crystals With Record‐Breaking X‐Ray Detection Performance

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A novel brand‐new co‐firing slow solidification process has been used to prepare Cs3Cu2I5: In single crystals (SCs), which demonstrate record‐breaking X‐ray detection performance. The regular‐shaped Cs3Cu2I5: In wafer obtains a high light yield (74 368 Ph MeV−1), which is the highest related to indium‐doped Cu‐based perovskites.

Switchable Reactivities of Metalated Phosphasilenes Regulated by Reversible 1,2‐Metal Migration

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 5, 28 January 2026.
We develop novel strategies for the facile synthesis of anionic phosphasilenes in the forms of both P‐metalation and Si‐metalation. The P‐metalated phosphasilene displays a pronounced π‐bond‐driven reactivity toward robust inert molecules, whereas the Si‐metalated analogue behaves as a silylene equivalent via a retro‐1,2‐silver migration.
