An optimal dynamic balance between carrier lifetime and transit time is achieved in the Bi2O2Se/Ta2NiSe5 tunneling heterojunction, which simultaneously attains high responsivity (>103 A W−1) and a fast response time (≈5 µs). The specific detectivity can reach 3.75 × 1013 Jones at 633 nm and 1.8 × 1010 Jones at 1550 nm. Abstract New technologies such as

SiPMs for Dual-Readout Calorimetry
A new fibre-sampling dual-readout calorimeter prototype has been qualified on beam at two facilities (DESY and CERN) using electrons from 1 to 100 GeV. The prototype was designed to almost fully contain electromagnetic showers and a central module (highly granular readout) was equipped with 320 Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) spaced by 2 mm and ...

Abstract Partial discharge (PD) detection is considered one of the most crucial and effective methods for identifying defects in electrical equipment. Consequently, investigating advanced and efficient PD monitoring techniques is essential for the development of gas‐insulated equipment (GIE) and the construction of ultra‐high‐voltage (UHV) networks ...

Ultralow Photon Flux OWC Links Using UV‐C Single‐Photon Detection
This work presents ultralow photon flux UV‐C optical wireless communication (OWC) links using a micro‐LED and a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM)‐based single‐photon detector (SPD). A record‐low transmission of 7.7 photons per bit and a maximum data rate of 120 Mbit s−1 are achieved. Furthermore, single‐photon links highlight the potential for a future UV‐

Study on Temperature Effects and Energy Resolution of Large-size BGO-SiPM Detector
The large scintillator γ-ray detector array plays an important role in studies within fields such as nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics. The design of gamma-ray detector arrays is often constrained by the use of photomultiplier tubes (PMTs), whose ...

The SiPM-on-tile system of the CMS HGCAL [PDF]
For the CMS High-Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL) for HL-LHC, scintillator tiles, readout with individual on-tile silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs), will be used where the radiation levels are expected to be less than 5 × 1013 neq/cm2.

ASIC development for SiPM readout
The design of CMOS front-end electronics suitable for Silicon Photo-Multipliers (SiPM) is described in this paper, starting with the specification of an accurate electrical model of the detector and its experimental validation. A novel current-mode solution is proposed for the preamplifier and the discriminator, to cope with the large dynamic range and
