Improving the tensile strength of carbon nanotube spun yarns using a modified spinning process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A modified process for the dry spinning of carbon nanotube (CNT) yarn is reported. The approach gives an improved structure of CNT bundles in the web drawn from the CNT forest and in the yarn produced from the twisted web leading to improved mechanical ...

Simulation of photosensor-based hairiness measurement using digital image analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The hair-counting technique using photosensors is a common method to measure the hairiness of the yarns. However, the literature recognizes some deficiencies of the technique regarding the sensor limitations.

Exploratory Work on the Spinning Condition of the Structure of Staple-core Twin-spun Yarns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In order to design and develop novel-spun yarns with good functionality, we investigated how to construct a core-sheath structure adapted from a multilayered structure of triplet-spun yarn and/or made from a twin-spun yarn with core-staple fibers using ...

Characteristics of Novel Triplet Spun Yarns Made from Fibers of Differing Fineness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In order to reduce the hairiness of ring spun yarns and to develop novel multilayered spun yarns, we investigated the properties of triplet spun yams made from the same size of three rovings with different fiber fineness using an experimental ring ...

Study on Sirospunning System to Reduce the Hairiness of Yarn

open access: yesModern Applied Science, 2008
The twisting process of Sirospunning and Ringspunning was compared and analyzed as to the phenomenon that Sirospunning decreases yarn hairiness. It can be obtained from the analysis of geometrical model that more hairiness is twisted into the yarns and the amount of apparent hairiness is reduced through its special twisting.

The effect of yarn hairiness on air drag in ring spinning

open access: yes, 2006
Air drag on yarn and package surfaces affects yarn tension, which in turn affects energy consumption and ends-down in ring spinning. This study investigated the effects of yarn hairiness on air drag in ring spinning.

Nonlinear Response of Strong Nonlinear System Arisen in Polymer Cushion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A dynamic model is proposed for a polymer foam-based nonlinear cushioning system. An accurate analytical solution for the nonlinear free vibration of the system is derived by applying He's variational iteration method, and conditions for resonance are ...
