Preparation of Polypropylene/Sisal Fiber Composites and Study on the Fiber Orientation
Advanced Materials Research, 2014The polypropylene/sisal fiber composites were prepared by twin screw extruder and vane extruder, respectively. The tensile test specimens perpendicular to the extrusion direction and parallel to the extrusion direction were prepared from the extruded composites, respectively.

Interfacial Characteristics of Sisal Fiber and Polymeric Matrices
The Journal of Adhesion, 2006Sisal-fiber-reinforced composites, as a class of eco-composites, have attracted much attention from materials scientists and engineers in recent years. In this article, the effects of fiber surface treatment on fiber tensile strength and fiber-matrix interface characteristics were determined by using tensile and single fiber pullout tests, respectively.

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2016
Abstract The main goals of this work were to study the effect of different chemical treatments on sisal fiber bundles tensile properties as well as on tensile properties of composites based on poly(lactic acid) (PLA) matrix and sisal fibers. For this purpose, sisal fibers were treated with different chemical treatments.

Some structural aspects of sisal fibers
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1976A critical account has been presented of the recent investigation on the chemical modification of lignocellulosic sisal fibers. The molecular structure of the paracrystalline cellulose, which forms the major constituent of the fiber, was studied by x-ray diffraction technique.

Recyclability analysis of PLA/Sisal fiber biocomposites
Composites Part B: Engineering, 2019Abstract This study presents the recyclability analysis of PLA/Sisal biocomposites comprising sodium bicarbonate treated Sisal fibers (30 wt%). The biocomposites were recycled (8 times) using the extrusion process. The tensile strength of injection molded biocomposites declined by 20.9% up to the third recycle.

Sisal and Henequen as Binder-Twine Fibers
1919Excerpts: During the year 1917 more than 100,000,000 acres were planted in the, United Stales to the small-grain crops, wheat, oats, barley, rye, and rice. The total production of these crops amounted approximately to two and one-half billions of bushels, the greater part of which was harvested with harvesting machines.

Behavior of polyolefin blends with acetylated sisal fibers
Polymer International, 2000The influence of acetylation on the mechanical, thermal and thermodegradative behavior of sisal fiber-reinforced PP, PP/HDPE and PP/HDPE with functionalized and non-functionalized EPR composites was studied. Acetylation of the fiber improves adhesion of the fiber to the polyolefin matrix.

Sisal Fiber Based Polymer Composites and Their Applications
2011The natural resources of the World are depleting very fast due to the high rate of exploitation and low rate of restoration, leading to an increase in global warming and pollution hazards. In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the substitution of synthetic fibers in reinforced plastic composites by natural plant fibers such as jute ...
