The Roman Sarcophagi of Siscia

This paper brings a catalogue of the sarcophagi and ash-chests from Sisak (Roman Siscia) in Pannonia Superior, based on the structural typology. All known and accessible pieces have been comprised, amounting to 20 chests and 2 individual lids, which can today be found in Zagreb and Sisak.

Colonia Flavia Siscia

Siscia was very importaint settlement from prehistory (Iron Age) up to the Roman times. Layer of 5th and 6th century is well preserved and confirmed by activities of imperial mint and the existence of the diocese. The creation of town itself was initiated by the presence of military base and geographic features.
