Abstract High‐resolution interseismic strain mapping is important for studying faulting behavior and for assessing seismic hazards. Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar has been widely applied to measure interseismic deformation along active strike‐slip faults. However, phase unwrapping errors and over‐smoothing effects limit its ability to map the

Abstract The southwestern margin of the Central Anatolian Plateau corresponds to the upper crust of the subduction between African and Anatolian plates, with a high relief of up to 2 km. This mountainous region has distinctive geomorphological features and presents a unique setting to investigate the mechanism of orogenic plateau margin development ...

Tectonic Evolution of a Sedimented Oceanic Transform Fault: The Owen Transform Fault, Indian Ocean
Abstract The Owen transform fault (OTF) connecting the Sheba and the Carlsberg spreading ridges in the Indian Ocean currently forms the active plate boundary between India and Somalia plates. This 330‐km‐long transform fault is by far the longest transform fault along the India‐Somalia plate boundary and its valley is buried under the thick distal ...

Sea Level Changes Affect Seismicity Rates in a Hydrothermal System Near Istanbul
Abstract Small stress changes such as those from sea level fluctuations can be large enough to trigger earthquakes. If small and large earthquakes initiate similarly, high‐resolution catalogs with low detection thresholds are best suited to illuminate such processes. Below the Sea of Marmara section of the North Anatolian Fault, a segment of ≈ $\approx

Abstract Seismic swarms are defined as a group of earthquakes occurring very close in time and space but without any distinctively large event triggering their occurrence. Up to now no simple law has been found to describe the swarm occurrence rate. Here we find an expression able to fit the average occurrence rate on some volcanic areas.

Re‐examination of historical earthquakes from legacy seismic data requires reliable vectorization and correction of analog seismograms. Nowadays, computational capabilities allow the development of ad‐hoc programs to perform such analysis. In this work we use Tiitba, our own developed Python based‐software to vectorize, analyze and correct the analog ...

Abstract The boundary between the Northern Andean block and the South American plate is a first‐order tectonic structure in Colombia with historically M > 7 earthquakes. However, details about individual sections of the system remain unknown. We illuminate the seismotectonic of the Algeciras fault by investigating an earthquake sequence that started on
