Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Dose Splitting Increases Selection for Both Target-Site and Non-Target-Site Fungicide Resistance—A Modelling Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
Fungicide resistance management principles recommend that farmers avoid splitting the total dose applied of a fungicidal mode of action (MoA) across multiple applications per season (‘dose splitting’).

基于广义反演法的日本关东盆地震源、路径和场地效应研究

open access: yesDizhen xuebao

A Site Amplification Model for Crustal Earthquakes

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
A global dataset which is composed of more than 20,000 records is used to develop an empirical nonlinear soil amplification model for crustal earthquakes. The model also includes the deep soil effect. The soil nonlinearity is formulated in terms of input

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Ex-post assessment of city logistics measures: the case of Rome

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a synthesis of the results of the survey carried out in Rome in 2008 which has investigated urban freight transport in the inner area. The survey has allowed us to understand the current patterns of freight mobility, update the survey

Development of a site-conditions map for the Campania-Lucania region (southern Apennines, Italy)

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2010
Having a reliable site-conditions estimate is an important step to analyze and predict earthquake ground motions. To provide this information for the Campania-Lucania region (southern Apennines, Italy), and in the framework of a collaboration with the ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Applying erosion damage mapping to asses and quantify off-site effects of soil erosion in Switzerland

open access: yes, 2010
In order to fill existing knowledge gaps in the temporal and spatial distribution of soil erosion, its sources and causes, as well as in relation to its off-site impacts, erosion damage mapping of all visible erosion features was carried out at three ...

Site effect studies following the 2016 Mw 6.0 Amatrice earthquake (Italy): the Emersito Task Force activities

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2016
On August 24, 2016, at 01:36 UTC a MW 6.0 earthquake struck an extensive area of the central Apennines (Italy). It was followed by a large aftershock (MW 5.3, August 24, 02:33 UTC) and about 20 earthquakes with magnitude greater than 4.0, located between
