Land use Effects on Ground Water Quality in Carbonate Rock Terrain [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
A control site with a natural setting and an experimental site with significant agriculture land use were studied in the Ozark Region of Arkansas in order to determine the effect of land use on water quality in a carbonate rock terrain. The vast majority

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Site-selective adsorption of naphthalene-tetracarboxylic-dianhydride on Ag(110): First-principles calculations

open access: yes, 2006
The mechanism of adsorption of the 1,4,5,8-naphthalene-tetracarboxylic-dianhydride (NTCDA) molecule on the Ag(110) surface is elucidated on the basis of extensive density functional theory calculations.

INFLUENCE OF VARIETIES AND SOME QUALITATIVE INDICATORS UPON ON YIELD OF SEVERAL WHEAT VARIETIES IN SOUTH EASTERN PART OF ROMANIAN PLAIN [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Papers Series : Management, Economic Engineering in Agriculture and Rural Development, 2019
Soil quality assessment is imperative in determining the level of soil potential in order to ensure sustainable land use practices. The determination of the soil quality of Sabongida Takai Northeast Nigeria is essential hence it is an agrarian area.

Quality control of transcription start site selection by nonsense-mediated-mRNA decay

open access: yeseLife, 2015
Nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) is a translation-dependent RNA quality-control pathway targeting transcripts such as messenger RNAs harboring premature stop-codons or short upstream open reading frame (uORFs).

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Millimeter and sub-millimeter atmospheric performance at Dome C combining radiosoundings and ATM synthetic spectra

open access: yes, 2012
The reliability of astronomical observations at millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelengths closely depends on a low vertical content of water vapor as well as on high atmospheric emission stability. Although Concordia station at Dome C (Antarctica) enjoys

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
