Genetic Testing by Cancer Site
The Cancer Journal, 2012Many hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes are associated with cutaneous findings, both benign and malignant. Dermatological examination and histopathology, when combined with a thorough personal and family medical history, play an important role in the diagnosis of cancer predisposition syndromes.

An Evaluation of On-Site Testing for Syphilis
Tropical Doctor, 2001One of the major obstacles to the eradication of perinatal transmission of syphilis is the delay in obtaining the results of syphilis serological tests. The availability of on-site syphilis testing lead to this study which attempted to evaluate on-site syphilis testing performed by nursing staff.

Distance to Public Test Sites and HIV Testing
Medical Care Research and Review, 2007This article examines how proximity to the nearest publicly funded test site affects HIV testing. Using a sample of 5,361 Los Angeles County adults, multinomial logit models estimated simultaneously the likelihood of (1) obtaining an HIV test in the prior 2 years, and (2) testing in a private physician's office, a publicly funded medical clinic, or in ...

This paper introduces a new experimental system on the web. This system provides some functions of our document reader system of scientific documents including mathematical formulae, named Infty [1], via the Internet. The system recognizes page images of clearly printed mathematical documents uploaded by a user, and outputs the recognition results in ...

To evaluate possible sites for NRAO's proposed Millimeter Array, we constructed interferometers to directly measure the tropospheric phase stability. These instruments observe an unmodulated 11.5 GHz beacon broadcast from a geostationary satellite and measure the phase difference between the signals received by two antennas 300 m apart.

Developers typically measure a Web application's quality of service in terms of response time, throughput, and availability. Poor QoS translates into frustrated customers, which can lead to lost business opportunities. At the same time, company expenditures on a Web site's IT infrastructure are a function of the site's expected traffic.

“Rocket Testing Sites” presents some of the lesser known rocket testing sites founded with a better understanding of physics and rocketry provided by Goddard, beginning with the development of the V-2 and A-4 rockets. The chapter focuses on some histories of rocket testing involving Operation Paperclip and Werner Von Braun, such as the Saturn V and ...

Existing systems are a larger opportunity for energy savings, through use of LCC methods, than new systems, for two reasons: There are 20 times as many pumps systems in the installed base as are purchased each year More existing systems have pumps or controls that are less than optimum since the pumping task can change over time.

On-Site Inspection and Testing
1996In most cases, complaints about unsatisfactory pump performance come from its user, who is usually familiar with what the malfunction of the pump does to its performance. However, he may know very little about the pump proper. Because of this, reports about unsatisfactory pump performance are often distorted and are intermingled with the personal ...
