Independent Speed Control of Two Six-Phase Induction Motors Using a Single Six-Phase Inverter
EPE Journal, 2004AbstractSplit phase (Double star, six-phase) induction motors are obtained by splitting the stator windings of three-phase induction motor into two equal halves which are spatially phase separated by 30 electrical degrees. The resulting six phases can be decomposed into three orthogonal sets of phase sequences, i.e. positive sequence components and two

Protecting NYSEG's six-phase transmission line
IEEE Computer Applications in Power, 1992The high phase order transmission demonstration project is described. An existing 115 kV double-circuit transmission line was electrically reconfigured into a single-circuit, six-phase transmission line for this purpose. A description is given for different computer applications used in all stages of design, operation, and postoperation analysis.

Three-Phase/Six-Phase Conversion Autotransformers
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 2002The first commercial demonstration of six-phase transmission, the Goudey-Oakdale three-phase/six-phase project, used two delta wye-grounded three-phase transformers to realize the required phase/voltage conversion. This paper proposes the usage of autotransformers for phase/voltage conversion for the actual three-phase/six-phase systems to be built in ...

Six-Phase Transmission Systems: Capacitance Switching
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1984This paper is aimed at studying the capacitance switching phenomenon in a six-phase power transmission system and comparing it with that of a three-phase system. The study is conducted by first deriving the analytical expressions for the transient recovery voltages associated with capacitance switching for three representative situations, and then ...

Fault analysis of six-phase systems
Electric Power Systems Research, 1981Abstract This paper presents an overview of the feasibility of six-phase transmission, symmetrical and Clarke's component transformations for six-phase systems derived from firm group theoretic considerations, and an analysis of the various faults likely to occur on six-phase systems.

Switching Surge Characteristics Of Six-Phase-Transmission Lines
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1984Transient switching overvoltages are important to both terminal equipment and transmission line design. In addition to phase-ground surges, phase-phase surges are particularly significant in comp three-phase and high phase order line design.

Stability Aspect of a Six Phase Transmission System
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1986Recently, there is a growing interest on the concept of six phase transmission as an alternative to the voltage upgradation of a line, to increase the power transfer capability, within the existing right of way. Allegheny Power System has been investigating the conversion of some of their 138 kV three phase double circuit lines to 138 kV six phase ...

138-kV, Six-phase Transmission System: Fault Analysis
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1982In the past decade, transmission planners and researchers have been keenly investigating the feasibility of six-phase concept as a planning alternative. The concept, if proved feasible, would alleviate the problem of acquiring additional rights-of-way to meet the increase in electric power and energy demand.

Three to six-phase direct matrix converters
2016 7th International Renewable Energy Congress (IREC), 2016This paper proposes a control technique for a matrix converter topology with three phase fixed grid input and six-phase variable voltage variable frequency output. This proposed technique is based on low frequency Venturini method. A theoretical introduction of the direct matrix converter is presented followed a detailed explanation of the Venturini ...
